There's just something to aesthetically pleasing about this picture. This is pre-assembly of a floor to ceiling pantry unit made from Baltic Birch plywood. You can see the adjustable shelf pins, routed area for backing and pocket hole grooves. There is also going to be a radiator in front of this unit, which is why custom is the way to go!

This client wanted a coffee table that would match the other wood in their house. They also had some leftover White Oak flooring, which we thought could be the perfect material to use. Interestingly, the client gave a suggestion of flipping the boards to have the underside on the outside, giving it a very unique, fluted look. They also had some left over Marble tile from a bathroom, that that wanted to use as the centerpiece on the top. Lastly, they wanted to store games and entertainment things in the unit, so they were asking for a lift-up top. This is the @sketchup_official that helped make the decision.

Planning and preparation is everything in this business. The client wanted hidden floating brackets, so we installed those by screwing into solid blocking that was installed behind the drywall (makes it extremely sturdy and always recommended). Now we had to rout the channels in the wood for the wires, rout for the hidden brackets, connect the wires to a transformer located in a lower cabinet, install LED channels, fabricate the steps for the rows of houses and trim, sand the wood to 220, give it a few coats of Tung Oil for finish, then finally put it into place.

Crazy how many steps are involved in something seemingly simple.

After milling the Hard Maple and White Oak to size, we joined the initial strips together, planed everything, then put @festool Dominos on all 4 corners to make sure everything lined up perfectly. Next came this picture, which was a the final glue up.

"KLM Houses are miniature Delft Blue ceramic houses filled with Dutch gin, presented as gifts to World Business Class passengers on intercontinental KLM flights since the 1950s". This client wanted to display their collection of 103 houses with the same exact wood of their kitchen island (Hard Maple/White Oak) in a LED-lit box right above their rear window. This was a delight to work on and the results speak for themselves!

Now this is a beautiful custom desk 🤩. This desk was built out of some cherry that was finished with Tung Oil to make this incredible artwork. This will allow them to have plenty of space for their computer/accessories on the desk, with book and note storage right above. Pictures do not do it justice on how magnificent this came out.

Custom drawers for a custom kitchen! The kitchen was tailor made to fit the clients needs and with that comes custom fabrication of everything, including drawers. These were made from 3/4" Rift/Quartered White Oak that was leftover flooring and 1/2" Baltic Birch plywood for the bottoms. They were then finished with two coats of Polyurethane to look like this.

The final product! These shelves fit so perfectly that they look like they've always been there (they certainly belong there). These came out so nicely and after a chat, agreed with the clients design direction for black brackets/dark stain over white brackets and painted white.

The staining process. Everyone does things slightly differently, but we went with a @minwaxusa Oil-Based stain for this finish to match the clients existing woodworking. The process includes pre-stain, staining (in this case twice, first Special Walnut then Ebony) and two coats of Polyurethane. Pictures don't do it justice on how beautifully this came out.

The After/Before. This was the blank canvas that was available to us in the 100+ year old home. The walls and floor make things tricky, but nothing a laser level couldn't help us with to make sure things are dead straight and level for the heavy duty bracket installation. Next steps are the final trimming, finish sanding, staining, sealing and installation.

The before and after of the milling process 😍. These stunning 8/4 Red Oak boards will be made into custom shelves held by brackets. They have gone through the circular saw, table saw, miter saw, jointer planer, thickness planer and sanded to 220 grit. Amazing the amount of work to take raw wood to a finished product.

This project involves a client who didn't like the retail or standard options available to them, so they came to us for a custom fit. After going back on the finishes and bracket colors, they decided that a stained wood and black brackets would match the other millwork in their house. This is why we model everything for our clients, giving them a very real sense of what the finished product will look like, along with any input that is needed. A local Church needed some additional storage for a few of their classrooms. The goal was to get the dimensions close to the other existing storage, and this was the result!
Plywood with poplar face frame came out beautifully. The finish is a Matte Water-Based Polyurethane. These were then anchored to the cement wall behind to make sure they will not go anywhere for the next few decades!

The same island top from the previous post. It's been fully assembled, sanded to 220 grit, chamfered corners on all sides, planed flat and then about 6 coats of Tung Oil as they plan to use it as a dining table, making it food safe while staying durable.

A client wanted a kitchen island made out of 8/4 thick wood - both Hard Maple and White Oak to match the wood floors and other millwork they have in their house. Up to this step, the wood has been milled to 3"x2" strips with Domino's on all of them to align them during glue up. These boards will be assembled in 3 groups, planed flat, then further assembled together to make one big Kitchen Island.

These stair railings are a labor of love and craftsmanship. We milled quartered/riftsawn White Oak for the rails and stiles to match the quartered/riftsawn White Oak of the floors. Everything was screwed in to structural walls and rafters to make these rock solid for years to come. It was also finished with the same polyurethane as the floors for a lovely combination.

Tung oil really makes Cherry POP! It's definitely one of our favorite finishes, especially on Cherry due to the durability, water resistance and effect on wood. Went with a few coats on this, using #0000 Steel wool between coats. Looking forward to this install.

The Maple doors after the final coat. We also custom fabricated Maple tracks for the doors to ride on - this really ties everything together as the tracks are somewhat hidden and also gives continuity to everything. It also makes install a bit more predictable. After this, we drilled out the holes for the sliding door hardware, and installed that.

Maple Door after first coat of finish 😍. At this stage the magic really shows. Every clients preference is different, some like knots, some don't, some like glossy finishes, some like matte - for this application the client wanted the natural colors to show, so we used a natural seal for this.
